Sometimes the opening scene shows death, lovers coming together or lovers having relationship problems, potential marriage, etc. In opening scenes it also shows the character(s) you should be focusing on the most giving little bits of information about the character. During the opening scene they may not talk but still find ways to give the audience little clues about the main character(s).

What are some examples of an Opening Scene?

Some examples of opening scenes are:

Flashback: This scene sets the audience in a time earlier than the main story. The flashback may have important information about changes in the main characters life leading up to what's currently happening to them. These are usually shown during romance movies to show how the couple was back then and what had lead up to their problem.

Flash forward: This scene shows events that happen later in time. The flash forward makes the audience curious of why it must have happened to the characters. Flash forward can be any type of emotion. Sometimes a flash forward may lead up to separation or getting together between two characters in a romance film. A flash forward can also lead up to the death of a hero in an action movie.

Dreams: This scene shows a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in characters mind. The dream is literally a characters actually waking up from a dream. Dreams are usually to show how the character wants there life to be. Usually with dreams it can show how character will end up in the future.

Metaphors: This scene expresses a variety of emotions, images, and expressions by combining two different situations. This scene is used mostly in comedy because it makes situations that can be seen as bad into something very funny by adding a whole different situation.

Why is the opening scene important?

The opening scene of a movie is important because it gives certain information and clues that the audience may need to know before the main story of the movie starts. It’s important that your opening scene has clear clues and information about your characters or the audience will stay confused. Some movies use a location they’ll use later on during the movie to give a better understanding of the location and to show that the location is very important to know about. Everything in the frame in your opening scene is there for a reason so it’s important that it gives clues to your audience and reflect of your genre.

For example, if your going to draw something that supposed to show a whip pan, you should make the description: "Camera goes into a whip pan....". This will help you better understand because you cant just rely on your mind remembering or a picture or drawing showing. A storyboard should take you about  2-3 days to make if have your script. why is storyboarding important? Storyboarding is impo...

Production, Distribution, exhibition

Today in class we learned Production, Distribution, Exhibition. This should help us know what big production companies do to get their movies out there. Example of big movie companies: Walt Disney, Universal, and 20th century fox, etc.  Production    Production is how you make the film. You have to have an idea, have to write a script, control your budget. Most importantly you have to know your cast. Personally, I believe your cast has to match with each character. When the cast matches each character, they wouldn't have to think too much about acting. You also have to know your budget. The budget will show how much you can spend on everything in total that way you don't go overboard with money. With budgeting comes an investor. An investor is the person who is providing money for filming. You have to make sure that your film is fundable so that your not wasting money. You also need you producer. Your producer helps produce the film and pitches in ideas. You should ...
