Strip boarding

Today we are going to talk about strip boarding. Strip boarding is another important key to filming our opening scene. Lets just get right into it. What is strip boarding? Strip boarding is a chart containing color coded strips each strips containing information about a shot or scene in the films script. This is also somewhat of a calendar and can help you in creating your production calendar (there will be a blog for information on production calendar). This is a very important thing to do so you can be cognizant of what's going on in each scene. It can also help you film quicker. For example, in my groups strip board we have ours color coded by location. This is a very helpful technique because it helps you make filming everything a whole lot easier. It also helps you finish off shooting locations and ensures you that you don't have to go back and forth with locations. For our opening scene we have two locations. One which may consist of one our house or just use one of our

Storyboarding

Today ill be explaining what storyboarding is and why it is important in a film. This is going to be short because we aren't going to be very long because storyboarding is very simple and much easier since your not doing too much.   What is storyboarding?  Storyboarding is a graphic organizer that consists of illustration or graphic images in a certain sequence for a pre-visual motion picture animation of your film. Typically, this means that you have a visual of what each shot is going to be doing. The storyboard description gives further on what the picture is trying to show. For example, if your going to draw something that supposed to show a whip pan, you should make the description: "Camera goes into a whip pan....". This will help you better understand because you cant just rely on your mind remembering or a picture or drawing showing. A storyboard should take you about  2-3 days to make if have your script. why is storyboarding important? Storyboarding is important

About our film

Today I will talk about our film. We are going to talk about Who will be in the film, Where it will be, How it be made, and When we think we will be able to film. So lets get with this information about our film. Who will be in our film? The people in my group are: Ethan  Mayera  Xena  This was my choice because I wanted to be in a group with people who are cognizant of what they are doing. Sometimes I zone out when people are explaining something to me so sometimes I don’t know exactly what to do. They are also love to keep high grades and they keep me on task when I tend to slack off. Sometimes I know what I'm doing and am able to tell them what I remember hearing. What will we be doing? We will be doing a horror film. At first , I made the suggestion of doing horror comedy but when we were researching there were barely any horror comedies that were easy to find and horror movies kept popping up. Some shots/scenes will not follow the conventions of horror because we wanted somet

Scriptwriting

In class we talked about script writing. We also wrote scripts which will probably be shown at the end of today’s blog. What is a script? A script is  the written text of a play, movie, or broadcast. A script helps the actors know exactly what to do during that scene. A script also helps it make the movie easier to understand and get the concept of. Overall the script is helpful to the directors and to the actors. What are the steps in creating a script? Step 1:  Craft a Logline A long line is a very short summary of your story. Usually around 2 sentences. Your longline doesn’t have to be to long but has to be able to generate ideas for your script. Step 2: Write a treatment  A treatment is your longer summary. It contains all the ideas you want in your films following your genres conventions. They have to make sense and can be understood just by the summary. Step 3: Develop characters  While devolving characters you have to make sure that the people you are thinking in mind to be the

Case Study (Candyman 2021)

Todays blog is going to be a case study on the movie Candyman. I've watched Candyman in my schools auditorium for spirit week. I honestly think the movie was worth wasting my time of sleep.  History/ Target audience There has been 3 other Candyman movies. The first one was made back in 1992. They all share the relationship of having bees/wasps in the movie. Candy mans is Rated R, so its target audience are adults. So teens under 17 would have to have an adult with them to watch the movie. Most kids are really into horror movies but this one has scenes that may be too much for them so I would recommend an adult watching the movie or trailer beforehand to see if they want their child to watch this movie. Production The movie Candyman (2021) was in process of thought around  September 2018.  The production companies of the movie Candyman include Monkeypaw productions, Bron Creative, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe. The producers were Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld, and J

Production, Distribution, exhibition

Today in class we learned Production, Distribution, Exhibition. This should help us know what big production companies do to get their movies out there. Example of big movie companies: Walt Disney, Universal, and 20th century fox, etc.  Production    Production is how you make the film. You have to have an idea, have to write a script, control your budget. Most importantly you have to know your cast. Personally, I believe your cast has to match with each character. When the cast matches each character, they wouldn't have to think too much about acting. You also have to know your budget. The budget will show how much you can spend on everything in total that way you don't go overboard with money. With budgeting comes an investor. An investor is the person who is providing money for filming. You have to make sure that your film is fundable so that your not wasting money. You also need you producer. Your producer helps produce the film and pitches in ideas. You should make sure y
