Music Video Project

 Introduction

In class we did a music video project which was really fun to make and do. The music video helps with both editing and camera work. It took us about week to make and edit and it was Christmas theme since its that time of year.

Steps/Progress

Since this took a week, we had to go through a series of steps to get it complete in time.

Step 1: Picking a song

Our first step was picking a song. For our music video we did Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms. We picked this song because it was an easy to find a dance and it was a nice simple Christmas song. We also picked it because it bright souled song.

Step 2: Shot list/ Storyboard

The second step was to create our shot list and storyboard. The shot list is supposed to tell the duration of each scene. The storyboard has the description of what we're doing or what's happening during the scene. Our shot list contained about 6-7 shots in total.

Step 3: Shooting the music video

The third step was recording our music video. For our group the recording took about 2-3 days. It took us this long because one of our group members wasn’t here and she had a way she wanted to make each scene. So on the first day we did some pre-recording for like some of the shots so we can know what we are going to do when she comes back. The second day we re-recorded the scenes and made it more joyful. And the third day we finished re-recording the scenes and then added our dance scene.

Step 4: Editing the video

We used Wevideo to edit our music video. It wasn’t to hard but at the same time it was easy. We wanted the transitions to be good enough to match the mood. We also wanted to smoothly transition from shot to shot without messing it up. After we started editing we noticed our dance part actually was apart of the beginning of the video but we somehow made it fit at the end because that’s we originally planned on doing.

Step 5: How it turned out

In the end, the music video turned out somewhat good. Some of our friends were impressed on how our video turned out and how the transitions were. The link to the video is going to be right here if you want to watch it. https://youtu.be/OPJy3GUMEdM

Conclusion

This music video was very fun to film and very interacting. We got to be in our other classmates videos and dance. I feel this video will help with our portfolios because it helps us learn a little bit more about how to edit and what it takes to film. So all I can say, is making a music video can be hard at times but in the ending you’ll notice how fun it actually was.

Strip boarding

Today we are going to talk about strip boarding. Strip boarding is another important key to filming our opening scene. Lets just get right into it. What is strip boarding? Strip boarding is a chart containing color coded strips each strips containing information about a shot or scene in the films script. This is also somewhat of a calendar and can help you in creating your production calendar (there will be a blog for information on production calendar). This is a very important thing to do so you can be cognizant of what's going on in each scene. It can also help you film quicker. For example, in my groups strip board we have ours color coded by location. This is a very helpful technique because it helps you make filming everything a whole lot easier. It also helps you finish off shooting locations and ensures you that you don't have to go back and forth with locations. For our opening scene we have two locations. One which may consist of one our house or just use one of our ...

Post Production week

Hello welcome back to my blog. Today we are going to talk about how the process we are currently going through. Our process The process that we are going through is very stressful yet it fulfills us with joy. After we finished the script, storyboard, and every other item in the process of starting film, ideas started to emerge in our minds. Instead of flash forward we thought of doing a flashback and instead of recording in this area we will record here. Just lots of ideas starting to form that we would re-look our own script. I feel this normal. For example, when your writing an essay or going to order food you wouldn't have too many ideas at first but when actually are doing you start having many ideas. We actually started film on Wednesday February 23 but we didn’t finished and had to redo it. It was so stressful to shot because of distractions and other people who didn’t know of then project just coming up and asking questions or just watching in general.  Most current...

Top 3 favorite film opening scenes

In a class discussion we talked about our top 5 favorite films. I picked  Granddaddy day care, Scary movie, The trap, A haunted house 2, and Night school. All these movies are found on Netflix. So today I’ll talk about the opening scene on my top three favorite films.  Granddaddy day care Granddaddy day care is a comedy movie found on Netflix. It’s about a guy who wants to be a novelist but also has problems with money. His father in law needs a place to stay and him and his wife decide to let him stay as long as he needs. Needing to pay bills and find a quick way to make money he decides to start something like a day care for seniors at his house to make money off of that. Granddaddy day care opening scene showed the book that the man was thinking about and how he was having trouble trying to write it. This helped me see that him trying his best to make a perfect book meant that writing the book was important for his future and the movie will show later on why it was im...
