Editors review

In class, we are learning about different websites we can use to edit our videos. We were given two websites and then had to find a third website. In this blog you will read about the process of which it took to find and learn about the websites and what each website provides for editing.

STEP 1: learn about our two given websites

As already told, we were given two websites. Our first website is Openshot.org and the second is Clipchamp.com. Both have good qualities for editing but both do have some differences.

Openshot.com

  • Provides unlimited tracks so can add multiple layers for watermarks, backgrounds, audio track, etc.
  • Can drag and drop videos, audio, or images from file manger into Openshot
  • Can quickly trim down videos and find those perfect moments
  • Can fade, slide, bounce, and animate your projects
  • can visualize audio as waveform and even output the waveforms as part of video

Clipchamp.com

  • Can trim videos to remove unwanted parts
  • Can add images or adjust audio levels and add multiple audio tracks or mute or replace audio completely
  • Adjust and balance colors manually

STEP 2: Research for a third website

This part of the process was probably the hardest because it takes a long time top find a website that meets the requirements for good editing. Also the part of the process made me feel like giving up because of  how many websites I went into and those didn't meet requirement During my researching I found a bunch of websites that look like it would reach requirement but I read into it and it didn't. The website I decided to choose was Descrpit.com.

Descript.com

  • Has multitrack so you can scale position layers of audio, videos, images, GIFs, etc.
  • Is non-destructive so it can preserve your original file as you edit
  • Has titles and captions so you can add intro, title cards, caption to ensure that your videos re accessible without sound.
  • Has transitions so that you can insert transitions between scenes, sections, and cuts for smooth flow
  • Also has keyframe animations so you can zoom ion on key elements or animate layers and objects
What are the similarities?

  • All three provided unlimited track so your able to add multiple layers of the audio, video, or watermarks
  • First two your able to drag and drop images, video, or audio
  • You can animate the video on all three
My overall choice
My overall choice is Cilpchamp.org because it seems like it would be easier to understand how to use and also has many good features that would make my portfolio better. But my second choice would be Openshot.org because descript sounds like a good editor but it kind of is not the best choice to go through by overall view and the other two just seem way more easier to understand.

Strip boarding

Today we are going to talk about strip boarding. Strip boarding is another important key to filming our opening scene. Lets just get right into it. What is strip boarding? Strip boarding is a chart containing color coded strips each strips containing information about a shot or scene in the films script. This is also somewhat of a calendar and can help you in creating your production calendar (there will be a blog for information on production calendar). This is a very important thing to do so you can be cognizant of what's going on in each scene. It can also help you film quicker. For example, in my groups strip board we have ours color coded by location. This is a very helpful technique because it helps you make filming everything a whole lot easier. It also helps you finish off shooting locations and ensures you that you don't have to go back and forth with locations. For our opening scene we have two locations. One which may consist of one our house or just use one of our ...

Post Production week

Hello welcome back to my blog. Today we are going to talk about how the process we are currently going through. Our process The process that we are going through is very stressful yet it fulfills us with joy. After we finished the script, storyboard, and every other item in the process of starting film, ideas started to emerge in our minds. Instead of flash forward we thought of doing a flashback and instead of recording in this area we will record here. Just lots of ideas starting to form that we would re-look our own script. I feel this normal. For example, when your writing an essay or going to order food you wouldn't have too many ideas at first but when actually are doing you start having many ideas. We actually started film on Wednesday February 23 but we didn’t finished and had to redo it. It was so stressful to shot because of distractions and other people who didn’t know of then project just coming up and asking questions or just watching in general.  Most current...

Top 3 favorite film opening scenes

In a class discussion we talked about our top 5 favorite films. I picked  Granddaddy day care, Scary movie, The trap, A haunted house 2, and Night school. All these movies are found on Netflix. So today I’ll talk about the opening scene on my top three favorite films.  Granddaddy day care Granddaddy day care is a comedy movie found on Netflix. It’s about a guy who wants to be a novelist but also has problems with money. His father in law needs a place to stay and him and his wife decide to let him stay as long as he needs. Needing to pay bills and find a quick way to make money he decides to start something like a day care for seniors at his house to make money off of that. Granddaddy day care opening scene showed the book that the man was thinking about and how he was having trouble trying to write it. This helped me see that him trying his best to make a perfect book meant that writing the book was important for his future and the movie will show later on why it was im...
