Editors review

In class, we are learning about different websites we can use to edit our videos. We were given two websites and then had to find a third website. In this blog you will read about the process of which it took to find and learn about the websites and what each website provides for editing.

STEP 1: learn about our two given websites

As already told, we were given two websites. Our first website is Openshot.org and the second is Clipchamp.com. Both have good qualities for editing but both do have some differences.

Openshot.com

  • Provides unlimited tracks so can add multiple layers for watermarks, backgrounds, audio track, etc.
  • Can drag and drop videos, audio, or images from file manger into Openshot
  • Can quickly trim down videos and find those perfect moments
  • Can fade, slide, bounce, and animate your projects
  • can visualize audio as waveform and even output the waveforms as part of video

Clipchamp.com

  • Can trim videos to remove unwanted parts
  • Can add images or adjust audio levels and add multiple audio tracks or mute or replace audio completely
  • Adjust and balance colors manually

STEP 2: Research for a third website

This part of the process was probably the hardest because it takes a long time top find a website that meets the requirements for good editing. Also the part of the process made me feel like giving up because of  how many websites I went into and those didn't meet requirement During my researching I found a bunch of websites that look like it would reach requirement but I read into it and it didn't. The website I decided to choose was Descrpit.com.

Descript.com

  • Has multitrack so you can scale position layers of audio, videos, images, GIFs, etc.
  • Is non-destructive so it can preserve your original file as you edit
  • Has titles and captions so you can add intro, title cards, caption to ensure that your videos re accessible without sound.
  • Has transitions so that you can insert transitions between scenes, sections, and cuts for smooth flow
  • Also has keyframe animations so you can zoom ion on key elements or animate layers and objects
What are the similarities?

  • All three provided unlimited track so your able to add multiple layers of the audio, video, or watermarks
  • First two your able to drag and drop images, video, or audio
  • You can animate the video on all three
My overall choice
My overall choice is Cilpchamp.org because it seems like it would be easier to understand how to use and also has many good features that would make my portfolio better. But my second choice would be Openshot.org because descript sounds like a good editor but it kind of is not the best choice to go through by overall view and the other two just seem way more easier to understand.

Storyboarding

Today ill be explaining what storyboarding is and why it is important in a film. This is going to be short because we aren't going to be very long because storyboarding is very simple and much easier since your not doing too much.   What is storyboarding?  Storyboarding is a graphic organizer that consists of illustration or graphic images in a certain sequence for a pre-visual motion picture animation of your film. Typically, this means that you have a visual of what each shot is going to be doing. The storyboard description gives further on what the picture is trying to show. For example, if your going to draw something that supposed to show a whip pan, you should make the description: "Camera goes into a whip pan....". This will help you better understand because you cant just rely on your mind remembering or a picture or drawing showing. A storyboard should take you about  2-3 days to make if have your script. why is storyboarding important? Storyboarding is impo...

Production calendar

Today we will talk about production calendars. This probably wont be too long because production calendars are an feasible concept in filming. We will talk about what a production calendar is and why its important during filming.  What is a production calendar and why is it important?  A production calendar is a type of calendar which consist of the list of dates that you will be shooting your film. The production calendar is very beneficial towards filming. Just like the strip board, it keeps you organized and makes sure that your not over the place. When shooting you want to make sure everything makes sense so a production calendar makes sure you have everything in order. My group production calendar has helped us see what days we wanted to film. It was very useful because we got more organized even though the date had to change a couple of times. Conclusion   In conclusion, the production calendar is a very key important thing into completing your film. Of course...

Production, Distribution, exhibition

Today in class we learned Production, Distribution, Exhibition. This should help us know what big production companies do to get their movies out there. Example of big movie companies: Walt Disney, Universal, and 20th century fox, etc.  Production    Production is how you make the film. You have to have an idea, have to write a script, control your budget. Most importantly you have to know your cast. Personally, I believe your cast has to match with each character. When the cast matches each character, they wouldn't have to think too much about acting. You also have to know your budget. The budget will show how much you can spend on everything in total that way you don't go overboard with money. With budgeting comes an investor. An investor is the person who is providing money for filming. You have to make sure that your film is fundable so that your not wasting money. You also need you producer. Your producer helps produce the film and pitches in ideas. You should ...
